The 2005 harvest brought even keeled temperatures that helped cultivate a Zin with the distinctive Sky characteristics.  The wine offers black cherries, pomegranates, mountain sage, and chaparral with balanced acid and structure.  The 2005 is the first vintage that has a significant portion of our new vines fruit in it from the partial replant of 2000.  The fruit is intensely concentrated and the yield is a record low for Sky.  The resulting wine is a vibrant blend of the exuberant fruit of the new vines with the great structure from the tannins of the old vines.  Barrel aged for a year and a half in French oak and then bottle aged for another year
